Thanks to virtual reality applied to plastic and cosmetic surgery, a very important step has been taken in terms of safety and the final outcome of each procedure.
In recent years, the Herrero Jover group of doctors, in collaboration with the UPC and ALMA IT SOLUTIONS SL, has developed sophisticated software, ALMA3D VIEWER, which allows us to study and navigate virtually in three dimensions inside the human body, based on a CT or MRI image of the patient.
This visualisation allows for greater diagnostic reliability, helping surgeons to plan their procedures and enabling them to make decisions at their desks with time and peace of mind by creating pre-surgical maps.

Thanks to the surgical navigator, surgeons can study their surgical field, check the interactions between different tissues and risk points, measure with extraordinary precision, and thus anticipate possible complications and find the best solution in each case.
The ability to navigate, visualise and measure structures makes the navigator a very useful tool for surgeons. It allows the volume of fat to be extracted in liposuction to be calculated, the actual distances between structures in the nose to be measured for rhinoplasty, and many other applications.
In this way, the surgeon is a true expert, not only in a specific technique or surgical procedure, but also in that particular patient, allowing us to achieve specialisation in a precise and specific manner.

In the field of plastic surgery, it offers us a wide range of possibilities to correct aesthetic problems and counteract the effects of ageing, guaranteeing us increasingly optimal results every day.
