Child and Adolescent Psychopedagogical Re-education

In our Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit at Centro Médico Teknon, we offer a specialized educational and learning support service. Built on a history of more than 40 years, our multidisciplinary team works to respond to the intellectual, emotional and academic development challenges of children and adolescents.

We understand that each patient is unique, which is why we design personalized intervention plans that seek the comprehensive well-being of the child and their family environment.

What does the educational and learning support Re-education consist of?

Educational and learning support re-education is a technical and personalized intervention aimed at enhancing learning abilities and providing practical tools to face school demands with autonomy and confidence.

This service is crucial for the treatment of various conditions and difficulties, such as:

  • Neurodevelopmental Disorders: ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Specific Learning Difficulties: Dyslexia, dyscalculia, and difficulties in literacy.
  • Language difficulties.
  • Difficulties in Executive Functions: Difficulties in organization, planning, and time management.

Areas of intervention in the sessions

Our sessions are carried out using methodologies based on scientific evidence in a playful way.

  • Literacy and Reading/Writing: We work on phonological awareness, reading fluency, and text comprehension.
  • Working on Attention difficulties: We implement specific exercises to improve sustained attention, reduce impulsivity, and optimize concentration in people with ADHD.
  • Executive Functions: promoting study techniques, use of diaries and problem solving, and encouraging autonomy.
  • Logical-Mathematical Reasoning: We address dyscalculia using materials and visual strategies for understanding numerical concepts.
  • Linguistic Development: We strengthen oral expression, vocabulary, and discourse structuring to improve communication skills.

Coordination with Schools and Family Support

We consider that the success of the intervention depends on close collaboration between the centre, the family, and the school environment. For this reason, we offer a liaison service with the school (with prior authorization from the parents) to:

  • Advise the implementation of methodological adaptations in the classroom.
  • Collaborate in the development of Individualized Plans (IP).
  • Carry out joint monitoring of academic and emotional progress.

Likewise, we provide management guidelines to parents and guidance for applying for scholarships and public aid for students with educational support needs.

At the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit, our approach is interdisciplinary, integrating child and adolescent psychology, educational and learning support and psychiatric services, to offer a 360º view of child and adolescent health.

If you detect that your child presents difficulties in school performance or in children’s developmental maturation, we invite you to carry out an initial consultation to obtain a professional assessment and a specialized plan.
