Menopause

Expert care of patients during all phases of the menopause

1. Premature ovarian failure

2. Early menopause

3. Menopause transition

4. Post-menopause

Menopause is a natural phase in every woman’s life, typically occurring around the age of 51. It is clinically defined as the point at which a woman has gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period. This transition is marked by a significant decline in the production of key hormones—primarily estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone—which can lead to a variety of physical and emotional changes.

While the experience of menopause varies widely among women, many encounter bothersome symptoms. Common physical manifestations include hot flashes, genitourinary syndrome of the menopause, characterized by vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, recurrent vaginal infections, and cystitis, dry and aging skin, dry eyes, hair thinning or loss, joint pain, weight gain (particularly in the abdominal area), and bloating or flatulence.

Emotional and cognitive symptoms may also arise, such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, fatigue, decreased concentration, memory lapses, and reduced libido.

The hormonal shifts of menopause—particularly estrogen deficiency—can also contribute to longer-term health risks, including decreased bone density (which may progress to osteopenia or osteoporosis), arterial plaque buildup, and cognitive decline. These risks are particularly significant in cases of early menopause.

Comprehensive Menopause Care with an Integrative Approach

Certified by MS, IMS and AEEM

As a certified specialist by the US based Menopause Society (MS) , the International Menopause Society (IMS), and the Asociación Española para el Estudio de la Menopausia (AEEM) we provide a personalized, integrative approach to managing the menopausal transition. Our care is rooted in evidence-based, safety-first protocols designed to address the full spectrum of symptoms and health concerns that may arise during this life stage.

We begin with the most natural options—emphasizing lifestyle modifications, regular physical activity, and a balanced, anti-inflammatory diet. When needed, we consider bioidentical hormone therapy to alleviate more severe symptoms. For many women, low-dose estradiol therapy can offer a safer and more effective alternative to antidepressants, anxiolytics, or sleep medications which are often prescribed to women going through the menopause. There are many ways to prescribe hormone therapy and include transdermal, oral and vaginal medications. Therapy is tailored to the patients’ needs and preferences.

Our comprehensive evaluations also include key aspects of midlife health, such as weight management, sexual well-being, urinary function, cardiovascular health, mood, and cognitive performance—all of which can be influenced by declining estrogen levels.
